Center of creative arts -January 2007

Centre of Creative Arts commences in January 2007.  The first semester program includes drawing, clay musical instruments, art appreciation, painting and self development.  The drawing class is being taught by Isaac Patmore. Isacc is working on observation skills and basic drawing techniques, these units are investigating still life, figure drawing and perspective.  The class is also learning about shading, cross hatching, blending, shadows, perspective and figure drawing. The art appreciation is being taught by Cheryl Baker, this unit has been developed to teach the learners research skills. This class requires the learners to attend the art gallery then to research the artists at the state library, the learners will also be taught how to write their own artist CV’s and artist statements.  The painting class is being taught by Clairy Lawrence, Clairy has been teaching basic painting skills, from brush care, colour wheel theory and mixing colours.  The artist will then be given the opportunity to start drawing and painting their own ideas on canvas with the learnt skills.   Self development is being supervised by Clairy Lawrence; this unit is a self paced program where the learner is able to work on their own ideas or complete work from other units in the Centre of Creative Arts.   The artist working in this program will be having an exhibition mid year to display all first semester work. The learners in the Clay musical instrument unit are making instruments like, shaker, flutes, ocarina’s and didgeridoo’s; at the end of the unit we intend to bring a musician in to teach the learners how to play the musical instruments
