Multicap offers centre based, older carer, and short term emergency placement Respite Services on the Gold Coast, Logan, Rockhampton, and greater Brisbane regions of Queensland.

Our Respite Services are funded by a variety of sources. Specific fees and charges, and eligibility criteria apply to each of funding source.

Across all our Multicap services our staff adopt a person centred approach t develop individualised program plans that focus on physical, emotional, and cognitive needs. A Person Centre Planning Framework is used to encourage both client and family involvement and participation in delivery responses. Multicap incorporates a Case Management system to facilitate Individual Program Plans.  

Centre Based

Our centre based Respite Services on the Gold Coast, Logan, and West Brisbane average periods of up to 5 days, and our Rockhampton Respite Services for periods between 5 hours to 4 weeks.

Older Carer  

Multicap offers over night centre based Respite Services in Marsden and Carseldine for older carers and parents who receive the Centrelink Carer Allowance, with a child being cared for aged 25 years or over with a profound or severe disability.

Short Term Emergency Placement Services 

Multicap offers a Short Term Emergency Placement Service (STEPS) for clients in danger of becoming homeless in greater Brisbane. This service is available for periods of three (3) to six (6) months whilst alternate accommodation solutions are found for clients.

STEPS is an initiative of Multicap working in close partnership with Disability Services Queensland. Entry to the STEPS is managed by Disability Services Queensland.
