About our artists

Monte Lupo offers ongoing studio-based sessions staffed by practising artists who provide support and assistance to the artists. It also runs an exhibition program through which their work is promoted locally, nationally and internationally across a wide variety of exhibiting contexts including competitions, public institutions, commercial galleries and public installations.  At Monte Lupo we encourage personal development, particularly of self-confidence and self-esteem, which enhance the ability to function in other aspects of life. Our artists have no formal training and are encouraged to develop their own style.  Due to Monte Lupo's product focus, a kind of Natural selection process happens  the artist know which work sells and produce more through this process the designs get worked and reworked and before long the artist has a whole range of work.

Apart from working on developing their ceramic product the artist are encouraged to keep journals. Involved in weekly sketching classes. Participitate in sculpture sessions where some of the more whimsical ideas are extended. When Monte Lupo is submitting designs for public art submissions each artist is involved with the design of the project.

Monte Lupo is striving for each artist to be independent and a balance is made between the artists' individual work and the collabrotative efforts that occur not just between the maker and the decorator - the whole team assist to create the final product  - from unloading clay, mixing clay, recycling the clay, the making, cleaning the pots, decorating the pots, glazing, loading the kilns through to packaging and shipping of product. - so how do we give recognition to the entire team - as the entire team helps make one single product - yet we only give recognition to the maker and the decorator.
